about

A Trusted Partner Through Life's Final Chapters

After many years as a volunteer with a local Hospice system, I was among the first to obtain a certificate of completion in their introductory Death Doula program. This practice led me to pursue further studies on end-of-life care and planning through the Willow EOL Educator® Program. As a Willow EOL Educator®, I facilitate workshops and one-on-one sessions to mentor individuals & groups through reflective topics and logistical details that arise for all of us as we contemplate our mortality.

Today, in addition to partnering with the local hospice organization, I work as a private end-of-life doula & educator, serving as a partner to people determined to organize their directives and decisions about end-of-life before and during the last chapters of their lives. I encourage anyone - regardless of age or ability - to view end-of-life planning as an important guide to a deeper life, not just a better death.

My appreciation for the end-of-life experience was augmented by the opportunity to be  present during the final days of my grandparents' lives. To witness and be a part of this process is something for which I feel deep gratitude and respect and is the reason I have pursued this work.

What is a death doula?

A Death Doula offers guidance and companionship through the natural transitions of life - not only in the final days, but during a process of reflection and preparation as we age. Trained to provide continuous emotional, informational, and physical support to clients and their families, a doula is a non-medical advocate on all things meaningful at the end of life.

You don’t have to be nearing the end of life to work with a doula. Many people seek this support while healthy - to bring order to their legacy & legal plans, have meaningful conversations with loved ones, or simply to clarify and deepen their relationship with life itself. Working with a death doula isn’t about preparing to die; it’s about learning how to live with intention and clarity all the way through.

Why end of life planning matters

End-of-Life Planning is not a task exclusive to our final moments. It is a process that, ultimately, relieves our loved ones of the burdened choices that will inevitably fall to them if we do not undertake to answer them for ourselves. When we choose how, specifically, we want our end-of-life medical, health, and legal affairs to be carried out; when we plan and communicate wishes for our own legacy, we are leaving our families with an exceptional gift. Don’t leave the navigation of your last chapters to others.
